Rest in peace Phil Lesh, bassist for and founding member of The Grateful Dead, who died on October 25th and whose words have been deep in my thoughts for many months. In an interview for the 2017 docuseries "Long Strange Trip," after recounting the famous story of how The Grateful Dead got their name, he says:
"This is who we are. We're The Grateful Dead. We're grateful to be dead because now we're going to be born anew into this incredible world that we're just glimpsing the edges of."
